Le Clos de Pommard is a 17th Century former village coaching inn which
has been recently stylishly converted into several apartments. Our apartment is on the ground floor and offers
a very high standard of self-catering accommodation with bright spacious rooms that still retain their character features.
It has been furnished and equipped with great care as a second home and as such we believe it offers that
something extra in terms of comfort and surroundings to our guests. Here you have the perfect base for exploring
the local area and experiencing the best that Burgundy has to offer. You will enjoy peace and quiet yet have the convenience
of being within minutes walk of the village amenities and beautiful surrounding courtryside.
Pommard is on the Route des Grand Crus,
and to name the neighbouring villages is like reading from a superlative Carte des Vins: Meursault, Volnay, Montrachet, Santenay
... to name just a few. Conveniently, Le Chateau de Pommard is located just 5 minutes walk from the apartment and is visible from
the front door. There are numerous opportunities to visit the area's prestigious cellars and enjoy a degustation
... in moderation of course!
Village shops & amenities:
a boulangerie, boucherie/traiteur, epicerie (general store), post office, charming gift shop and several specialist wine
retailers are conveniently all situated within minutes walk of the apartment. There is no need to drive into Beaune to find
a good restaurant - Restaurant Le Pommard just across the main road offers a variety of menus with local specialities
in a traditional setting. A few paces further and you will discover Au Pres du Clocher close to the church. Dining
is in a stylish modern upstairs setting with superb menus to compete with Beaune's finest.
The
lovely old town of Beaune, centre of the region's winemaking tradition, is
just 4km away and rewards the visitor with countless things to see and do. A visit to the magnificent Hotel Dieu is a must. There are several excellent museums, fascinating architecture,
many interesting specialist shops and countless cafes and restaurants in which to experience the famous cuisine of the region
along with the best burgundies. A colourful Saturday market known throughout the region for its fresh local products,
antiques & bric-a-brac is something not to be missed.
Aside from wine, there are countless other attractions
close by ... picturesque villages to explore, majestic chateaux to visit, lakes, canals and peaceful countryside ideal for
walking and hiking enthusiasts, and a wide choice of sporting activities; climbing, fishing, windsurfing, paragliding, cycling
and horseriding are all available locally.
Burgundy
has something for everybody,
not
just the oenophile!
